HELP!!!!

Thursday, July 9, 2009
I like to cook...I LOVE it! But for some reason I cannot bake for the life of me. I try so hard and nothing I bake ever turns out. And I mean NEVER! I do good with baking bread but dessert is another story...I cannot bake cake, pies, and I ESPECIALLY cannot bake cookies. Why is this so hard for me. I don't know if I just can't bake or if I just have sucky recipes. If any of you have some cookie or pies recipes that you have tried and have turned out great, please pass them on...I need major help! Does anyone have any suggestions?

I try decreasing the temperature and baking everything at a lower time than suggested...I just can't figure it out!

  2. I'm a huge baker.I do pies, cheesecakes, cobblers, you name it! This is a choch. chip recipe that I have made over 30 times, and its perfect each time around. They are so soft and good!! I get request all the time!

    * 1 cup butter, softened
    * 1 cup white sugar
    * 1 cup packed brown sugar
    * 2 eggs
    * 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    * 3 cups all-purpose flour
    * 1 teaspoon baking soda
    * 2 teaspoons hot water
    * 1/2 teaspoon salt
    * 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

    1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    2.Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, & chocolate chips. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.(I actually grease my pan with Crisco, then sprinkle flour on top of the pan and shake the access off)
    3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned. Take off pan onto cooling rack ! Let me know how it turns out for you!

  3. Yeah, cooking in the oven and baking in the oven are really different. You just have to always check on whatever is in the oven. Make sure you don't put things in before your oven is 100% preheated before you put the things in it. Then set your timer for the least amount of time it says. Check whatever is in the oven at that point in time and reset your timer accordingly. I know that sounds pretty self explanatory, but that is always why I burn things when I bake. You have to keep a really close eye on things or they will not turn out.
