For our baby
Thursday, January 15, 2009
I just finished my other tile board that is going in the baby nursery. I just love this picture of Christ with the little boy. I am trying to keep myself occupied with craft projects until the baby comes. YAY FOR BABIES!

How do you make those? They are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful whitney, yeah, how do you make these?
ReplyDeletewhy dont you tell us how you did that? Or teach a class? a class on tile boards and on baking and on cake making.... :)
ReplyDeleteFirst you have to find a craft store that carries tile boards. Around here the only one that carries them is Roberts. So you buy a plain tile board and you paint it the color of your choice. The darker the paint, the better it looks, so find a dark paint that works well with your picture. Then cut your picture to fit each tile spots and mod podge them on. For those who dont know what mod podge is, you can find it at any craft stores and its a type of glue you brush on. Make sure to glue every side and corner down really well so that they dont lift. After the picture is glued down, mod podge a thin layer over the entire picture and make sure not to get any mod podge on your painted part. If you get mod podge on the painted part, it dries funny, so be careful. Then when the mod podge is completely dried, you will want to put down newspaper and lift up your tile board on plastic cups that can be thrown away. Next you pour "EnviroTex" all over your board. Follow the directions in the packaging of envirotex when mixing it to make sure you do it right. "EnviroTex" is a high gloss finish that is really thick and you can find it at craft stores as well. Smooth out the envirotex all over the board with a tongue depressor (or whatever you want) and let it sit for about five minutes. After it sits for a few minutes you can get rid of all the bubbles by "exhaling" all over the board. Let it sit again for 45 minutes once all the bubbles are gone. After forty five minutes you can take the tongue depresser and follow it with the grooves on the board to scrap the excess envirotex that has built up. Also scrap the dripping envirotex that builds up on the base and underneath your tile board. Let it sit for 48 hours untouched so that it can harden.
ReplyDeleteThats it! It sounds like a lot but it really isn't. The tricky thing is finding the supplies. You can find them all at Roberts if you live in Utah, everyone else, you'll have to call around. Let me know if you have any questions!
